# Вживання герундiя

Як вже було вище зазначено, як і з інфінітивом, існує певний перелік слів та словосполучень після яких вживається герундій.

Нижче наведено перелік дієслів, та дієслів, іменників і прикметників з прийменниками, а також інші випадки, після яких вживається герундій.

## Герундій ЗАВЖДИ вживається після наступних дієслів

| **appreciate**       | I **appreciate** helping me with this problem                  |
| **avoid**            | I can't **avoid** cleaning my room                             |
| **can't help**       | I **can't help** you killing people                            |

| **delay**            | Thay **delayed** reporting the results until they are sure     |
| **deny**             | He **denies** helping that.                                    |
| **enjoy**            | I **enjoy** listening opera.                                   |
| **fancy**            | **Fancy** meeting you here.                                    |
| **suggest**          | He **suggested** helping his brother.                          |
| **finish**           | When you will **finish** screaming every time you see a mouse? |
| **imagine**          | I can't **imagine** living without you.                        |
| **involve**          | The job **involves** traveling to japan once a month.          |
| **keep (=continue)** | He **kept** interupting me.                                    |
| **mind**             | Don't you **mind** my coming?                                  |
| **miss**             | I **miss** walking with my dog.                                |
| **postpone**         | I decided to **postpone** writing the article.                 |
| **practise**         | You should **practice** speaking.                              |
| **regret**           | I don't **regret** telling the truth.                          |
| **report**           | He **reported** her stealing the money.                        |
| **resent**           | Mary **resented** Peter's being there.                         |

## Іменники з прийменниками, після яких вживається герундій

## GO з герундієм

Коли ми хочемо зазначити, що збираємося займатися якимось видом спорту або іншою діяльністю і використовуємо для цього дієслово to go, то після нього вживаємо герундій.

* **go dancing**
* **go fishing**
* **go hiking**
* **go running**
* **go sailing**
* **go swimming**

## Герундій після BY

Ми вживаємо герундій після by, коли даємо відповідь на запитання Як? Яким способом? (How? –By doing something)
