# Сполучник

 Означення **Сполучник** вживається для зв'язку членів речення та цілих речень у складних реченнях: and, because, but, or, that, if, so, however, therefore, not only ... but also, etc.

Сполучні слова: what, who, which (pronouns), where, when, how (adverbs) etc.

**В англійській мові виділяють наступні типи сполучників:**

* прості (які складаються з одного кореня): **and, but, or, that**.
* похідні (що складаються з кореня і префікса або суфікса): **because, unless**.
* складні (які складаються з двох, рідше — трьох коренів): **however, therefore**.
* складені (які складаються з кількох слів, звичайно із сполучників): **as if, as though, so that**.

До складених належать також парні сполучники, які складаються з двох частин, розділених іншими словами: **both ... and** — як ... так і; **either ... or** — або ... або; **neither ... nor** — ні ... ні.

**Сполучники також поділяютья на:**

* Cурядні.
* Підрядні.

**Залежно від того, що вони поєднують:**

* **Підрядні** – підрядне речення з головним.

  I’m very tired because I was working hard.
* **Сурядні** – два або декілька сурядних речення в одне, або однорідні члени речення

  I’m sorry, but I have to go now.

**За значенням сурядні сполучники поділяються на такі групи:**

* Єднальні (Copulative)

  and — і;

  as well as — так само, як;

  both ... and — як ... так і;

  neither ... nor — ні ... ні;

  not only ... but also — не тільки ... але й.

  I told him the joke, **and** he laughed at it.

  **Both** me **and** him wanted to go to a shop.
* Розділові (Disjunctive)

  or — або, інакше;

  either ... or — або ... або.

  **Either** go with us or stay here.

  Do you want to go there **or** stay at home?
* Протиставні (Adversative)

  but — але;

  still — все ж;

  yet — проте, а проте;

  nevertheless — проте, a проте.

  I looked everywhere, **but** couldn't find my glasses.

  He was bad husband ,**still** I decided to give him another chance.
* Причини (of reason)

  for — бо, тому що.

  I took an umbrella, for it looked like raining.
* Результату або наслідку (of result or consequence)

  so — так що,

  thus — таким чином,

  therefore — тому.

  We have a lot of food, so you can take some.
